There are two types of Red Light Enforcement cameras used by Strathclyde Safety Camera Partnership. 1. Gatso cameras. These are the original safety cameras which use 35mm film technology to record offences. 2. RedSpeed digital cameras. This new technology is being brought in to replace the ageing film-based camera stock. These cameras have the capability of detecting speeding offences as well as red light violations, an important development for road safety in deterring drivers from ‘racing the lights’.
